1. Transmitting Rotation
The rotary head generates torque, which is transmitted through the drill string to the DTH hammer and bit.
2. Transmitting Feed Force
The drill pipe transfers axial force from the drilling rig toward the bottom of the borehole, helping maintain effective contact between the bit and rock.
3. Delivering Compressed Air
Compressed air travels through the internal passage of the drill pipe to operate the DTH hammer. Exhaust air then helps carry rock cuttings toward the surface.
